Jan 14 Barbara, Myra, Mark, Noah and Steve fished Fort lauderdale with us this morning for a good pick on some nice king mackeral. The afternoon trip brought Dick, Dave and Bob from Boston joined us looking for some Fort Lauderedale sailfish action. We popped the kites up and put the gogs out and got an insta bite on two big bomber bonita. We thought we were looking at the start of a great afternoon of fishing unfortunately those were our only bites and fish for the afternoon. We kite fished most of the trip, then tried some drops on the wrecks to no avail and even went on the troll. Tough day on the rip.
Jan 18 Bobby and Brian from Atlantic City joined us for some fishing while on their expidition to drink the most beer humanly possible. We caught some blue runners and tinker mackeral at an anchored ship and we pulled Bobby out of the livewell. We did some trolling and caught some nice kings. We also caught a nice amberjack.
On the 21 Adam and Terry joined us for some kite fishing for sailfish and sharks. After awhile doing this with no bites we finally got a huge shark bite on the bottom rod. Adam jumped in the chair and fought the beast for close to 45 minutes before the hooks pulled. Tough break Adam. On the waqy in we pitch baited a nice trophy dolphin that Adam subdued in perfect form.
Jan 22 Al, Leonard, Dennis, Damon, Richard and Devin from Wisconsin were fortunate enough to have a good day of fishing this month. January is usually a great month for sailfish but its been reaqlly slow and dissapoiunting. Big leonard jumped in the chair for his turn and caught a beautiful wahoo, while everyone else took their turn on some kingfish. We then did some bottom fishing and caught some snappers and tile fish.

Ft Lauderdale Fishing charter trips here in South Florida remain strong with lots of sailfish action. The strong cold fronts needed to continually push the sailfish to us are running a little behind so the big bite still hasnt happened. However a constant flow of some fish have kept the bite alive while we continue to wait for the big push. Filling in the gaps between sailfish bites have been some good size mahi mahi, some monster king mackeral and a couple of big wahoos. Kite fishing is still the preferred method of fishing this month for all the above mentioned species, although we have been sneaking a few deep lines and flat lines out while kite fishing to pick up those big kings. A triple hook jig and ballyhoo combination will fool its share of fish as well and provides some more hands on while waiting for the big bite out of the kite. Hammerhead sharks will begin to make their presence known as the month continues and the sharks we will be seeing will start to step it up in size as well. Shark Fishing Fort Lauderdale in the coming months is excellent and if you have ever wanted to catch a sea monster, now through June is a great time to do it!

Today on their Fort Luaderdale Fishing Trip Dennis and Jim from Wisconsin did some kite fishing in search of Fort Lauderdale greatest gamefish. Fishing had been a little slow the last couple days so we were hoping to get lucky on this short three hour trip. It turned out to be Jim’s lucky day as the sailfish came up and ate the perfectly presented live goggle eye fished out of the kite. We went ahead with the boat as the sailfish went airborne. After a twenty minute see saw battle Jim finally got the fish to the boat for a quick measurement and a clean release. Nice job Jim!
Fishing continued to pick up this week for Scott and his son Zach on the 5th who each caught their first sailfish! Zach who is about 14 did an amazing job on the rod and was able to coach his dad through his fish (lol). Great Job Zach! we also caught a nice kingfish and missed two other sailfish bites.
On the 6th Alex and his family from Russia fished with us in the morning and caught a nice kingfish and unfortunately could not stay connected to the two sailfish we on.
Jan 8th we had them AGAIN, Big Al, Linda and MAtt and this time they brought to friends Frank and Ivan. We started the morning catching some big pinfish to try and catch one of the couple Goliath Groupers that have been hangin in a certain spot. After securing a half dozen pinnies we made our first drop. The bite was so hard and fast it blew or sucked rather the pinnie right off the hook. The next one we hooked and I tried to pull the fish away from the structure and somehow managed to pull the hook. Licking our wounds we went off shore to begin some trolling. Reports on the radio were slow and not very encouraging, we picked up one king and decided to put the kites up. We had a sailfish up immediately but jumped him off as he got fouled in the leader on the bite. The next sailfish was not so lucky as Frank jumped in the chair and began battlem, he almost finished it too before he turned the rod over to IVAN, do the fish even have a chance with a name like that? Ivan finished the fish up pretty quick and we got some pictures and turned him loose. Thanks Guys!

Fishing Fort Lauderdale with us today on a Ft Lauderdale Fishing Trip was long time friend and repeat customer Al, his wife Linda and son Matt. Al and his family have been fishing with every Christmas week for quite a few years now and we always have a great time. Today we were Swordfishing Ft Lauderdale so we steamed offshore to the swordfish grounds, high speed trolling along the way and Al picked up a nice wahoo right off the rip. A short time later Linda caught a small blackfin tuna. We arrived on the swordfish grounds and began dropping. We had a crushing bite on the first drop but failed to get the hook home. We ran back south to drop in the same area and it was quite sometime but we finally got another bite. It was a small bite at best and we never got a solid hookup with that one either. We were starting feel a little snakebit and the day was coming towards an end when we finally Hooked Up! Al worked the reel and guided the line perfectly, we readied the harpoons and gaffs. We fought the beast for quite sometime and it was about 100 feet from the boat when the hooked pulled. Everyone was a little let down and Al looks at me and says “thats fishin” what a great sport. We had to get back to port so we steamed home with the lures out and caught a couple of more tunas on the way in. Guys thank you again for everything we love having you and looking forward to fishing with you every year!

Fishing a Ft Lauderdale fishing trip with us today on Christmas Eve in the morning was Tim, Andrew, Kyle, Robert and Kristin from Chicago and Cleveland. We started our trip today with hi hopes of sailfish and we gave it our best but found the sailfish elusive. So we fell back on some trolling on the reef and rounded up some nice kings and then hit the bottom fish to round out a beautiful day. In the afternoon Raul, Luanne, Mark, Sue, Melvin and Mason busted up some kingfish as well and caught a handful of medium sized blackfin tunas to boot.
Christmas morning I took off to be with my family and three year old son, that was quite the event in itself. Anyways the boat fished and standing in for me was good friend Taco from tacohookedup. On board was Allison from Dallas, Betty and Tom from Coral Springs. Now everyone always wants to have their Christmas wishes granted and all this crew wanted was some mahi mahi. Well ask and ye shall receive. The guys started out kitefishing as conditions looked great for catching sailfish. They finally got their shot but the fish got fouled up in the leader and pulled off. After a while longer and no more sailfish shots the boys went on the troll. It wasnt long before the saw some objects floating and as anyone in the know, knows mahi hang around floating debris. Turns out their was a dozen mahi there, the problem was that the mahi were the debris. One dozen partially frozen mahi mahi fillets from our local Publix!!!! Unreal!
That was good for a few laughs and we finally managed to catch some kings and a bonita.
Fishing improved on the 26th as Jim, Lydie, Brad, Francois and Joelle wrangled up one sailfish and three big kings. In the afternoon Rich, Rich Jr, Joe and Jim caught a nice wahoo and a king.

Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charters were great this month with lots of mahi mahi, some wahoos, sailfish and blackfin tuna. Brian and Steve from Bradington and Ohio caught their fill of mahi and a couple kings on the 10th. The 11th found Tim, Mike, Colin, Nate and Michelle from California and Indy, In. fishing Ft Lauderdale with us in the morning. They caught 9 mahi mahi, 1 bonita and a kingfish. Great day guys. In fact this entire second week was great for the mahi mahi, while we didnt crush huge numbers of them, the ones we did catch were truly quality size fish. Skip, John and Tim caught 7 nice mahi with us on the “Local Knowledge” on the 12th. On the 14th our mahi streak continued with Nick, Marco, Joe, John, Carmine and Tom who caught two great wahoos and 9 mahi on a Fort Lauderdale half day fishing trip. The 15th was a little slow for Joe and Chico from Minnesota and John and Julie from Delray. After trolling, dropping and kite fishing, basically trying everything we could we ended up with one big kingfish and a barracuda. Sorry so slow guys! Weather had us in for a few days but it kicked the fishing up for Tony and Mike from Kansas city and their buddy Mike from Ft Lauderdale as the kite fished their way to 3 sailfish and 5 mahi. Not too shabby for four hours of fishing.

Fort Lauderdale Fishing Charters in January are much the same as December. Only the sail fish bite just keeps getting better and better. There was a record setting bite just north of us in the Palm Beach area and we are just waiting our turn as the fish push south to Fort Lauderdale for awaiting anglers. Kite fishing is still hands down the best way to entice these acrobatic spindle beaks. Light tackle makes for the ultimate show allowing the sail fish to express its raw blistering powerful runs interupted with moments of insane A#$ over tea kettle jumps! FT Lauderdale Charter Fishing presents you with a true opportunity to catch one of the greatest gamefish to swim the Atlantic Ocean. Wahoos have continued to make a strong showing as well and as one of the tastiest fish around and one of the hardest fighters, they are a welcomed addition. Medium sized blackfin tunas are prowling the depths as well just outside the reef in 200-400 ft of water and keep us entertained between wahoo bites. You cant go wrong fishing this month and the weather has been beautiful!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The schools of bait are here, shoals of mullet and balls of sardines and acres of ballyhoo. The mahi mahi have been showing a trend in the last couple years ft lauderdale mahi mahi fishing was always considered a summer time fishery but the last couple of years the summers have been so so for the golden gamester and the winter has been excellent for them. Even better news they are close to shore right off the edge of the reef and sometimes right on top of it. We have been seeing schoolies and catching the big bulls and cows as well. They are providing the entertainment factor between sailfish bites. The sailfish have been showing in great numbers as well and is on everyones list for Santa this month. From now until May sailfish make a strong showing as Fort Lauderdales premier gamefish. Filling in are continued wahoo catches, kingfish and some medium sized blackfin tunas. So come on guys and gals and get in on the action! Give me a call and book your trip today, dont forget to ask about our new VIP customer appreciation program.

Fishing Fort Lauderdale in November was absolutely excellent this year! Sailfish took the stage front and center with a strong showing throughout the month. Quite a few fish were taken on the troll along with many on the kite baits. Mixed in with the sailfish and keeping us busy and entertained were the hoardes of mahi mahi. The green and yellow demons swarmed our waters from right on top of the reef in 50 feet of water showering shoals of ballyhoo, all the way out to 500 feet erupting schools of flying fish. The mahi mahi this time of the year typically run larger in the 8-10 pound range all the way up to 25 pounds or better. Quite a few wahoos abounded as well, with their electric purple tiger stripes and razor like teeth. Look for the same type of action throughout December as well!!!

Sailfishing Fort Lauderdale

Today great friend and long time repeat customer Jerry, from New York joined us for what turned out to be a great day of sailfishing off Fort Lauderdale. Jerry and his good friends Dom and Anthony pronounced (ANT-KNEE) chartered the Local Knowledge looking for some Dolphin action (mahi mahi) and possibly some sailfish or sharks. The past few weeks mother nature has dumped tons of rain us and much to our dismay the fresh water locks were opened dumping huge amounts of fresh dirty water through our port and shutting down the bite just a day or two before their arrival. Good news however, we found an edge far offshore in over 900 feet with huge patches of weed, floating debris and some mahi mahi on it. We were pretty excited and jumped off two nice mahi in the first ten minutes or so and that was it. We spent another hour pounding the patches and the edge, it looked incredible but the fish just were not cooperating. Jerry looked up at me and asked if we could go back into the reef and try for sails and sharks. In my heart I knew it was pointless, muddy water, no current and a west wind, it just wasnt the right conditions. I tried to explain my concerns but Jerry wasnt having it, He Wanted Sailfish! So off we went on a big run back to just outside the reef. We were met with exactly the same dismal muddy water, no current and west wind but we put ‘em out. Good thing too. We had our first sail up in about twenty minutes and ANT-KNEE jumped in the chair. The sailfish burned off a blistering first run, shredding the oceans surface along the way, while jumping and cartwheeling the entire time. We cleared the other lines and began pursuit. After an incredible 20-30 show we had the fish at boatside for pictures, a trophy measurement and a clean release! Great Job!! After all the high fives it was time to regroup and we did it just in time. We no sooner got the baits deployed when another sailfish crashed the left long kite bait. This time Big Dom jumped in the chair for his turn at mother oceans greatest gamefish. And after another classic sailfish display of blue, purple and silver fury we got another measurement and a great release!! The only problem, I’ll never hear the end of it from Jerry! You can’t catch ‘em if you dont try!
